We have been extremely fortunate to have been successful in our application for funds via the Armed Forces Covenant Fund, we have been awarded the full £34,000 we applied for. This will fund our project, “The Great Outdoors and Beyond”.

The funds will be used to redevelop our forest school woodland which is adjacent to Weeton Primary School. This will include installation of an outdoor classroom, composting toilet, clearance of the overgrown woodland area. fencing and gates to secure the area, as well as forest school training for 6 staff!

Within this fund we also applied for a potting shed and raised planter to support us with growing our own food. A cosy cabin, storage and some new trikes, bikes and scooters for out nursery garden.

We are looking forward to the amazing learning experiences the children will gain from this project.

What is Forest School?

Forest school is a child-centered educational approach that takes place outdoors in a natural setting, such as a forest, woodland, or beach. It’s a long-term program that uses hands-on learning to help children develop confidence, self-esteem, and a love of nature:
Learning style
Forest school is learner-centered, with a focus on the child’s curiosity and exploration. Children learn through play, and activities vary based on their age.
Holistic development
Forest school aims to help children grow socially, emotionally, and physically. Children develop their social skills through team activities, and their physical skills through outdoor activities.
Risk-taking
Forest school provides opportunities for supported risk-taking, such as using fire, knives, and outdoor shelters.
